Yik Yak Protest

Yik Yak is designed for people over the age of 17, for college students. It's been around for years. This app is not designed for high school and Middle school students. There is a petition out to end the app, because high schoolers are being bullied. I understand why they are thinking what they are thinking, however I don't agree with it at all. There are better ways to handle that situation, such as parents talking to their children, and putting restictions making the app the way it was designed. I've traveled quite a bit this past week, and I've checked all the Yik Yak pages that I've been too. I've seen similar comments that the petition is speaking of. I have also noticed that most of these comments are made in small towns that don't have colleges or Universities anywhere near them. Yik Yak should be doing there part of taking care of the issue, just like all of the other social networking sites. How about instead of forcing them to take there app off of the app stores, we help them fix the issue. I have seen many places that use the app in a none vain way. So here is what Yik Yak should do, they should actually read the reported comments, take down the comments that break the rules such as posting names. I have seen high schoolers names being posted in small college free towns on Yik Yak when these comments nothing is done because they post periods, for example instead of say Aerie they would say A.E.R.I.E. doing this does not change that it is clearly sombodys name, Yik Yak needs to be paying attention to these sort of things. Yik Yak should also be reviewing all reports not waiting to get multiple on one comment. Yik Yak should also make it to where you can only comment and vote if you have actually been logged on, on a campus. They shouldn't be forced to ruin the fun for the people who can use it in a mature way. They should be reviewing and filtering. They could even put a word filter on posts to where you can't post certain words and by words I mean names. You know? Start with commen names then add others as needed.
